February 2012 Newsletter • Co-Chairs' Corner

As we discussed at our most recent meeting, postage rates have increased as of January 22nd. The new postal statements associated with the January 2012 price change are available on Postal Explorer at http://pe.usps.com/.
The Postage Statement link is in the left column under *NEW* Jan 22, 2012 Price Change Info. As of January 2012, all postage statements dated prior to April 2011 or June 2011, as applicable, are obsolete.

You should have received an electronic distribution of the Non Profit rates, which demonstrates a slight increase in some areas, and actually a decrease in others. If you haven’t received the email, or would like a hard copy, please let us know.

Businesses now can mail First-Class Mail automation and presort letters weighing up to two ounces at the one-ounce postage rate using the new “2nd Ounce FREE” pricing. This is a huge selling opportunity to clients who are mailing First-Class and are always concerned about putting additional components into their package. It’s an opportunity to sell more printing, insert more pieces, and do more business. The new 2nd Ounce Free option is not a limited time promotion, but a new price. There is no registration required, no minimum annual thresholds apply and no payment rebates. Rarely does an opportunity like this come by, so take advantage of it.

Don’t miss our upcoming event on February 15th. Doug Branch is pulling together a great presentation of current and upcoming technology in the mailing industry. You may want to consider bringing some of your associates.
Keep in mind you can register on line for this meeting, as well as all of our other events, at www.longislandpcc.com.

This is a very trying time in the Direct Mail business as well as for the U.S. Postal Service. We at the LI PCC will strive to keep you informed of any changes as soon as possible. If we can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact us through your local post office or ask your local Business Network Representative or call us directly.

I look forward to seeing you in February, and for those that need a reminder, the day before is Valentines Day.
