I want to thank Doug Branch from Mailtech Mailing Systems, for
taking the time to put together a very comprehensive presentation
on current ink jet technology for our recent meeting. There was
a significant amount of information that Doug presented in a very
short period of time. If you have any questions about his presentation,
please feel free to contact Doug directly at Doug@Mailtech.com
According to the February 23rd DMM Advisory, the Area Mail Processing
Facility Study Results have been announced. If you would like to
peruse the complete list of information, it is available at http://usps.com/ourfuturenetwork.
As we discussed at our recent meeting, the Implementation of any
consolidation or closure, is contingent upon the outcome of proposed
revisions to existing service standards. In addition, no network
changes will be implemented prior to May 15 of this year, in keeping
with a moratorium on closing or consolidating postal facilities
intended to give Congress and the Administration the opportunity
to enact an alternative plan.
There will be no changes at this time to retail services and business
mail acceptance located at any of the facilities involved in these
studies. Destination Sectional Center Facility (DSCF) discounts
will continue to be available in the near-term for mailings entered
at Business Mail Entry Units (BMEUs) that remain in impacted facilities.
There will be no major consolidations during the fall mailing season,
nor during the election mailing period, and Facility Access and
Shipment Tracking (FAST®) appointments will be expanded to support
shifting volumes across the network.
As more information is made available to us, we will be sending
it out to our membership.
At our upcoming meeting on March 21st, we will be discussing in
detail the new changes to the processing of self mailers. The topic
of our meeting is about mail design, so please bring with you any
questions that you may have on current or upcoming projects. This
will be an interactive session which we are looking forward to a
lively discussion on how these changes will affect how we design,
print, and mail self mailers.
Before you know it, it will be time again for the Annual LI PCC
Golf Outing. Plans are being made for the when and wheres so do
keep an eye out for information and lets see if we can’t out
do the last Golf Outing success.
